Homes around here are a mix
Palm Coast has thousands of houses built in the ’80s and ’90s with the same few lock brands on every door. A lot of those locks still work fine, they just need a rekey when the house changes hands.
Beach condos in Flagler Beach and Daytona Beach Shores fight salt air, which is hard on cylinders and handles. Older homes in DeLand and Palatka sometimes have mortise locks and old hardware that takes some patience to repair. Out in the county you’ll find sliding glass doors, gates and sheds that need their own keys.
We work on all of it.
Rekey every exterior lock the week you move in. You don’t know how many copies of the old keys are floating around and a rekey costs a lot less than new locks.
- Warning signs
Signs a house lock needs attention
- The key sticks or has to be jiggled
- The deadbolt won't throw all the way
- The knob or lever is loose
- You don't know who has copies
- Rust or green crust on the cylinder
- The door has to be pushed to latch
Most of these are quick fixes if they’re caught early.
How pricing works
A house lockout starts at $95. Rekeying is $35 per lock and a lock change starts at $65 per lock plus the new lock. So rekeying three doors is $105, which is a lot less than three new deadbolts.
You get the price on the phone before we drive out. All our regular prices are on the price page.
We cover all of Flagler, Volusia and Putnam counties from the shop on North Ocean Shore Blvd in Palm Coast.
- Common questions
Home locksmith questions
How fast can you get to my house?
It depends on where you are and what time it is. We’ll give you an honest time on the phone.
Should I rekey or replace my locks?
Rekey if the locks work and you like them. Replace if they’re worn, damaged, or you want a different style or a keypad.
Can you match all my locks to one key?
Usually yes, if they’re the same brand and keyway. We can rekey them so one key opens every door.
Do you work on sliding doors and gates?
Yes, sliding glass door locks, gate locks, garage side doors and sheds.
How much does it cost to rekey a house?
$35 per lock. Most houses have three to five.
